Save The Native Bees In San Diego
Save The Native Bees
Transforming OB & San Diego Into a Garden of Eden
Save the native bees with Veterans PTSD Cure (Creating Urban Residential Environments), we are on a mission to heal not only veterans but also the land. One of the most critical steps to making Ocean Beach and San Diego a Garden of Eden is to Save The Native Bees. These incredible pollinators play a vital role in keeping our environment thriving, ensuring local food production, and boosting our economy.
Save The Native Bees in San Diego
While honeybees get much of the spotlight, our local bumblebees and other native bees are the true unsung heroes. San Diego is home to a wide variety of bees and saving native bees—each essential for different plants and food crops to flourish. Many native plants in Southern California depend on these bees for pollination, making them critical to both our natural ecosystems and agricultural success.
Bumblebee Pollinators: What’s the Buzz?
Bumblebees are heavyweight pollinators! Their large size and ability to “buzz pollinate” are key to pollinating specific plants, like tomatoes, peppers, and blueberries. Without bumblebees, we lose essential crops and native plants that help sustain our delicate ecosystems.
Honeybees, while not native, are also essential, especially when it comes to commercial crops. They play a significant role in pollinating fruits, nuts, and vegetables, contributing to billions of dollars in agricultural revenue every year.
But here’s where it gets critical—without native bees, many plants won’t grow, and certain foods will disappear from our tables.
What’s at Stake?
Biodiversity & Native Plants
Native bees help pollinate exotic and local plants that can only thrive in Southern California’s unique climate. Saving these bees ensures the survival of plant species that provide food, shelter, and oxygen, sustaining both wildlife and our communities.
Economic Impact
Pollination services provided by bees—especially native bees—bring in billions of dollars through agriculture. From locally grown food to exotic plants that flourish in our region, bees are the hidden workforce driving revenue in industries that depend on nature’s bounty. Without them, our economy could take a major hit, along with the quality of life we enjoy.
Environmental Stability
Native bees help ensure soil health and support ecosystems by pollinating wild plants that prevent erosion and encourage natural water retention in the soil. This not only aids in plant growth but also improves our ability to sustain urban gardens and green spaces like those in our Veterans PTSD Cure program.
Urban Transformation
In our vision to turn Ocean Beach into a Garden of Eden, bees are key players. As we create urban gardens that support healing and abundance, we need native bees to keep the plants and food supply thriving, helping veterans and the homeless who rely on these gardens for therapy and nutrition.
Why Your Help Matters
By saving the right bees, we’re not just protecting nature—we’re empowering a movement of healing and abundance in San Diego. This initiative provides veterans and homeless individuals with skills in gardening and beekeeping, giving them a sense of purpose and a path toward healing. Plus, a healthier bee population helps our local food systems, making our communities stronger and more resilient.
